After more than a century of cultural and traditional exchange, Hong Kong is now one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities where East truly meets West! See a panoramic view of the city and the world famous Victoria Harbor from Victoria Peak. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue to the Observation deck for even more beautiful views. Then, we will stop at Repulse Bay and Stanley Market, the popular weekend getaway spot in Hong Kong. You will want to make sure to take notes on anything you may want to further explore on your own during your stay with us this summer. Get ready to experience the magic and the essence of the Pearl of the Orient!
Discover the "Venice of the East!" With its rich history, lush valleys and soaring mountains, this is a trip you will not want to miss! You will visit the traditional Tai-O Village where people continue to live on stilted houses and rely on fishing for their livelihood. After enjoying this glimpse from the past, our group will explore the Po Lin Monastery, known as the "Buddhist Kingdom in the South." Here, you will be able to see the giant bronze statue of the Giant Buddha and later you will enjoy a delicious traditional Buddhist lunch at the Monastery. We will end our day of adventure by a scenic cable car ride back to "the mainland." Join us as we explore this gem!
This weekend will be about introducing you to all that Hong Kong has to offer. With endless options in music, culture, cuisine and much more, we want to make sure that you get acquainted with the city you'll call home for eight weeks. Learn all about the culture and food of Hong Kong while you get to know your fellow participants. Take pictures, take notes and take the time to take it all in!
Explore the fascinating Cheung Chau island. We'll start the day out with a delicious traditional Chinese meal called dim sum. Dim sum is a style of Cantonese cuisine comparable to brunch. From there we'll have the day to explore the culture packed island of Cheung Chau. The island has everything from local shops, to beautiful sandy beaches, to even a hike on the Mini Great Wall of China!
Get dressed up for a day at the historic Sha Tin Racecourse. Sha Tin Racecourse is one of the two racecourses for horse racing in Hong Kong. The track makes for perfect pictures as it is encircled by large mountains and skyscrappers.
This weekend the group will dress to impress and spend an evening together in Hong Kong. The night will start with a nice dinner, before spending one final night enjoying stories, dancing, and start planning for making the last couple of weeks in the program unforgettable. This truly will be a night to remember!
