Ryan Kahn's 6 Interview Rules

Ryan Kahn, Career Coach with Dream Careers and featured recruiter on the docu-series MTV Hired, has advised thousands of job seekers on how to get hired at the most competitive companies. Here are 6 tips to help you master any interview.

1. Confidence with a Smile. It's human nature to get nervous, especially when you are excited for something. Before you walk into the office, take a deep breath, smile, and present yourself confidently. Interviewers will judge you in the first few seconds, so start the interview off with a confident smile that says "hire me".
2. Research the Company. Think of it as studying for the most important final exam of your life. The more you know about the company, industry, and job function, the more confident you will be in the interview, and the better your interview letter grade.
3. Bring copies of your Resume. Bring resumes for up to 5. Trust me, it will be the best 25 cents your ever invested at OfficeMax.
4. Leave your Cell Phone in the Car. This will help you resist the urge to check your Twitter or get distracted by a surprise phone call at the most inopportune time. Believe me, once you get hired, your Facebook status will be epic.
5. Ask Questions. You can't avoid the inevitable final question of the interview when the recruiter asks, "Do you have any questions for me?" Show the interviewer that you are genuinely interested in the position by asking inquisitive questions. As a rule of thumb, if you don't ask a question, you won't get called back.
6. Have realistic expectations. Understand the position you are applying for. You may have aspirations of being the CEO one day, but your objective of the interview should be to demonstrate your competency for the job at-hand.
