Charlie Caudill Bio
Caudill, an award-winning international journalist and high-tech marketing executive, has spent more than 26 years in the broadcasting and cable television news industry. During two decades at CNN, Caudill helped revolutionize international television news coverage and programming to create one of the most enduring brands in the industry. He personally covered some of the most important news events of the late 20th century while playing a critical role in the evolution of CNN from a cable news network start-up to an international powerhouse in television journalism and online news.
Caudill helped orchestrate and implement the CNN Gulf War (1991) crisis communication plan, involving more than 270 affiliates and more than 90 live worldwide remotes. It remains today, a classic example of state-of-the-art crisis communications strategy.
As Vice President and Senior Executive Producer for CNN, Caudill directed news coverage, often on location, for such major news stories as the Soviet coups, the breakup of the Soviet Union, the student demonstrations at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, along with every major U.S. national election since 1984.
Caudill and his CNN news teams won dozens of Emmy, Peabody and Academy of Cable Excellence awards. He won praise from peers, as well as many awards, for his direction of CNN’s Gulf War coverage, as the upstart cable network continually outflanked the three primary broadcast networks and achieved worldwide recognition as the leader in breaking news.
Prior to founding Caudill Media Management (CMM) in early 2003, Caudill was the director of GlobalFluency, a worldwide communications network, founded by NealeMay & Partners of Palo Alto, Calif. with offices in New York City. With more than 40 agencies around the world, GlobalFluency is one of the leading independent communication networks for high technology companies.
Caudill is a member of the International Who’s Who of Professionals, the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Mass Communications advisory boards at DeAnza and Skyline Colleges in Silicon Valley.
